Why did Paul for 3 years warn the flock at Ephesus that when he left grievous wolves would enter among them and not spare the flock?  Why did he for 3 years warn that there would be those in the flock that would likewise turn people away from the flock and teachings?  This account is found in Acts 20:29-32, and it does us well to understand it’s teachings. I think too often we do not expect Spiritual Warfare in our churches.  We expect things to be smooth with no problems, we expect that everyone always gets along (as indeed we should), and we expect that false doctrine will not enter in.  Yet, we have an example in Scripture were Paul was preparing the the elders for just that to happen. Why? Because in reality it happens.  Unfortunately in many churches there are false teachings creeping in from the outside and sadly enough from the inside as well. There are wolves seeking to devour the flock of sheep.  Worse yet “Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them” v 30. If the wolves are attending your church, or members themselves are turning people away…beware!

In closing verse 32 states “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”
