This week we have been looking into who Jesus is. We will end this week with the fact that He is the giver of eternal life. He is the giver of the enterance to heaven. Let’s look at John 10:28 “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” Jesus is the speaker of this passage of Scripture. The question then becomes who is the “them” in this passage, the people who Jesus gives to? Verse 27 shows that the them is to them that follow Jesus. Over in Luke 13:5 we see Jesus saying “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise persih.” So, those who receive this gift of eternal life that they do not perish must repent of their sins. Acts 16:31 states “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” While Jesus is the giver of eternal life, those who accept it need to follow Him, repent of their sins, and believe in Him. This is how one receives the gift of eternal life that Jesus is the giver of.
