It is that time of year for me again, to begin Spring Cleaning.  I always need a head start, that way I might finish before summer.  Spring cleaning is not something I look forward to.  Matter of fact I can get a little miserable to be around, especially when that Spring cleaning includes trying to down size the collections of the past number of years. God has a lot to say about how we do things, and Spring cleaning or any other unpleasant task for that matter is also covered in Scriptures.

Colossians 3:17 “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” How can I give thanks to God, while grumbling about throwing things out … I can’t.  How can I give thanks to God while being mad at vacuuming for the second time in a day?  I can’t.  So, there has got to be a better way.

If I am to do all things in the name of the Lord and give thanks to the Father in whatever I do; then it makes sense to me to start by giving the thanks.  Then my heart is where it belongs and I can do the whatever’s of my life correctly; in an attitude of thankfulness and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  My whatever’s go much smoothly when I start with this step.
