Jonah, like us, was so into doing what he wanted to do he would end up getting the full experience of his rebellion. Running from God can lead to quite the smelly affair. Here we see Jonah end up in the belly of a fish three days and three nights only to get vomited onto the dry land (Jonah 1:17 and 2:10). I have never known a vomit not to smell, maybe it did not smell while he was in the belly of the fish because of the water…however it smelled on the way out! This is not the only place in Scripture that we see rebellion smelling. Take a look at the prodigal son who ended up tending pigs in the field (Luke 15:15-16), he was not smelling roses on that day!
