We have seen that running from God brought a storm, cost Jonah, and cost the mariners. Yet that is not the scariest part of the story to me. Read Jonah 1:5 carefully. Running from God can make us oblivious to the danger around us. Jonah was not on alert at all, and was oblivious to the danger he was in. This is almost as scary as when the Spirit of the Lord leaves someone and they don’t even know it (Judges 16:20). Are you oblivious today? You might want to search your heart today.
