For this mini series we will look at the book of Jonah chapter 1. So, dust off that Bible and read that short chapter and we will get into the discussion.

Starting in verses 1 through 3 we see that the Word of the Lord came to Jonah and his response was to arise and flee from the presence of the Lord. Many times I have read this portion of Scriptures and just kind of passed over this portion, and this is unfortunate as it sets the stage for the rest of the book. God speaks to us all through His Word, and how many times like Jonah do we reject His Word and run from Him (either figuratively or literally)? My question becomes where do we think we are running to that gets us AWAY from an ever present God???? Nonetheless,  Jonah ran away from the presence of God, and as we are going to see it had consequences. Are you running from God today? Has He asked you to do something and you are saying “No!” We have all done it, but it is not the wisest of decisions. How about running to Him today and saying “Yes” to what He has called you to. Is the “yes” He is asking of you requesting you to forgive someone, share with another, have communion with the Father, or even to take a rest? It is time to stop running.
