Not many people I know enjoy life’s storms. Often times there are more questions than answers. Storms always seem to find us, but they are not always our personal storms to bear. Take a look at the book of Jonah, as it gives us a glimpse into the storms endured by Jonah. We see that God sent the storm (Jonah 1:4) to Jonah. Yet, other people experienced Jonah’s storm, too. Jonah 1:10-11 shows us that other men where in the ship with Jonah when God had sent the storm to Jonah. Jonah clearly tells them the storm is because of him. Once they cast Jonah into the sea, the sea calms down for them again. The storm was over for the other sailors, one that they were in the midst of through no fault of their own. Jonah’s personal storm however would continue. In Jonah 1:17 we read “Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.” Remember, not every storm you experience is your’s.
