I was reading in Genesis 29 and something struck me about this word love. In Genesis 29 we read that Jacob loved Rachel (verse 18) and was willing to work 7 years for her (verse 20). The fact of the matter is that he ended up working 14 years for her (verse 30). How different our world is today! Jacob loved so much he worked 14 years for the object of his love. Many love today and do not even stay married for 10 years. How different is our attitudes towards love. What if young men had to work for you to win the hand of your daughter in marriage? How long would he last? A day, a week, a month? Just a thought.
