In the New Testament we see his name mentioned againĀ  (Matthew 12:38-42 and Luke 11:29-32). Both Matthew and Luke are relaying the same conversation that was spoken by our Lord to the Pharisees, the crowd, and experts of Law who had gathered. There are times that people look for a sign to repent and believe. In Jonah’s day one sign was Jonah being in the belly of a large fish for three days and three nights, a foreshadowing of the coming of Jesus Christ who would be in the grave three days and three nights before His resurrection. God’s message through Jonah was for the people of Nineveh to repent of their wicked ways, and they did. Jesus’ message is for us to repent. The message that we all are wanted, and that He came to redeem each and every one of us through His sinless life, atoning death, and bodily resurrection. Will we repent of our wicked ways, acknowledge Jesus as the only way to heaven, and make Jesus Lord of our lives?
