At different seasons of our lives, different things are required of us.  As we saw in Luke 22:35 yesterday Jesus sent the disciples out on missions trips without a money bag, a food bag, or shoes. Now at a different season Jesus makes a different request. Let’s look at Luke 22:36 ” Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” Jesus goes from not allowing them to take their purse and scrip to allowing it. So was it wrong for them to have a purse and scrip? No. Would it have been wrong for them to travel  with it earlier? Yes! Would it be wrong for them at this point in their journey not to have the purse and scrip if they owned one? Yes! The point is simply this…how Jesus asks you to conduct yourself yesteryears might not be how he wants you to conduct yourself today.  However, His great commandment to share His word has not changed. What we do does not change…love God with all our heart, love your neighbor as yourself, love your enemy, etc.  How we do it changes though as we see in this passage Jesus had the disciples change how they did things.
