If we were ever to meet one another in the future, one thing you would probably learn about me is that I am hearing impaired. During conversations I say things like “Huh?”, “who?”, and “what was that?” Sometimes it gets annoying, even for me. Yet, I am reminded of our Heavenly Father, who repeats things for us.
Have you ever heard Him and then ignored Him or decided not to do what He asked of you? You see that is where Jonah found himself. Jonah had decided not to go to Nineveh as God had asked (Jonah1:2). Then after being vomited out of the great fish, God speaks. “And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching I bid thee” (Jonah 3:1-2).
I am thankful that we serve a God of second chances, a God that does repeat Himself from time to time!! He is not obliged to give us second chances, but if He does why not answer “Yes, LORD”?
