Have you ever been in a place that the task ahead of you was bigger than your ability or experience? Moses was told to lead a nation out of a captivity, when he was only a shepherd to his Father-in-Law’s sheep. He was no CEO at the time. Having murdered an Eygptian he fled for the sake of his own skin. We find him years later as a lowly shepherd. Self-confident Moses? Hardly! Moses believed he was not capable of carrying out the task (Exodus 3:11, 4:1, 10) God assigned to him. Moses was right, he was not up to the task alone, but it was not his speech problem that would be the problem…rather his anger would be the problem. His anger would be a big hinderance to the task at hand.
God does not ask us to do what we can do, He asks us to do what He can do through us. 2 Corinthians 12:9a states “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Moses had weaknesses…his anger had led to murder, he was slow of speech, he was not a man of great faith in the beginning, he was in hiding for fear of his life…not exactly the person one would be inclined to follow. But this Moses is the Moses chosen by God to lead His people out of Egypt.
So, what weaknesses do you have that God wants to use?
